Serge Bloch nació en Colmar (Francia) en 1956. Es pintor y dibujante de prestigio. Además de ilustrar libros para niños, trabaja en publicidad y en prensa, colaborando en publicaciones de renombre como The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, GQ, The Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg o la revista de National Geographic.

Sus ilustraciones se caracterizan por un trazo sencillo, casi infantil, como monigotes poco trabajados, llenos de humor y expresividad. A veces sus dibujos se insertan en retazos de fotografías, escenas reales en un mundo a veces duro, implacable, o simplemente humano, perdiendo así toda condición de candidez.

Los trabajos de Serge Bloch han merecido varios galardones, como la Medalla de Oro de la 47ª exhibición anual de la American Society of Illustrators (2005), el Premio Baobab al Mejor Libro Infantil del Año en Francia (2006) y el Premio de la Feria Infantil de Bolonia (2007), entre otros
